Thankful Thursday – Bless The Lord

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
 He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

(Psalm 103: 1-8; NKJV)

Bless The Lord Oh My Soul!

This is just ringing in my heart this morning!  As I drove east on the highway to work I got to marvel at the ever changing vista before me. It is a joy to drive in such splendor and majesty. It never gets old for me

Bless The Lord Oh My Soul!

Mountains bathed one morning in wispy fog, the next in hues of orange and pink, and still others with the plain bright sunshine.

Bless The Lord Oh My Soul!

Trees with and without leaves reaching heavenward; one gnarly and twisted, one straight as an arrow, and all others in between; one morning dressed in the lace of snow and ice, the next stark and bare; yet always reaching, stretching with their arms towards their Creator.

Bless The Lord Oh My Soul!

This morning I heard my husband reading his daily chapter of Proverbs and Psalms aloud to himself. Faith comes by hearing. Joy comes in the morning. I listen, and my heart opens a little bit more and there is joy, faith, and the maintaining of a firm foundation.

Then I hear him finish with this, “Thank you Lord, this is a day that You have made, and we will rejoice in it.” This is how the day should start, and finish, with thanks; for without it we cannot enter into His court. It is the key to starting and finishing well each and every day.

So we call out with the Psalmist:

Bless the Lord, O house of Israel!
Bless the Lord, O house of Aaron!
Bless the Lord, O house of Levi!
You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord!. (Ps 135:19.20; NKJV)

Bless the Lord, O House of Henter!

Bless the Lord, O House of Shawn (& Michele)!

Bless the Lord, O House of _______! (put your name in the blank)

Today I choose to echo David, who knew hardship, pain, and sorrow, yet who always chose to bless and thank the Lord, and say with heartfelt abandon;

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

And let us exalt His name together

I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (Ps 34:1-8; NKJV)
